Aprilia out of MotoGP

In the same way that scooter success never became big twin sportsbike dominance against Ducati, Aprilia was never able to transition its winning formula from 125 and 250 two strokes to MotoGP. The "Cube" was an innovative and interesting addition to the field. Its use of Formula 1 technology may point toward the future for motorcycle road racing's top class, but Aprilia couldn't capitalize on the promise before financial difficulties brought the effort to a premature conclusion.
